Re: Sv 650 turbo
One recent (May) SV650 stock at the dyno I'll be using here at 5,581ft altitude, showed 61.7bhp and 38.2ftlbs of torque at the rear wheel here, so in reality, I'll be happy to see anything over 90bhp and 58 to 61ftlbs of torque. So obviously the Falco and TSL have the approximate corrections to their power as well. I don't have any numbers for them up here.
The SV turbo is so fun to drive. It's unfortunate others are not doing the same.
Here's a video to my other Turbo bike project that utilizes different fuel sources, the video is old now the bike is slightly different now:

Re: Sv 650 turbo
The only "trouble" with french legislation is that the simplest modification is supposed to be approved by a specific organisation to be street legal ... which is nearly impossible.naturalextraction a écrit :La turbo bikes non legalles en France? ce que je lis ce droit, pourquoi non?
There are existing turbo bikes, but built and approved with it at a start by manufacturers. Some modifications are tolerated by autorities but as soon as you start to modify your engine you are kind of considerated as a dangerous criminal

Replace your exhaust for a M4 on a Sv650, and you'll be considered as a dangerous criminal too, mainly if you don't have any db killer and if cops don't like your head !zeu perenoel a écrit :naturalextraction a écrit : Some modifications are tolerated by autorities but as soon as you start to modify your engine you are kind of considerated as a dangerous criminal
Re: Sv 650 turbo
Very nice work !
It's totally illegal in France. In this beautiful country, the government has a great fear of the self made, and even more if it's applied to motorcycles. For an example, the motorcycles are all restrain to 106hp, so i don't think they will be able to understand why you put a turbo on your bike.
Be that as it may you can see on roads a few custom bikes, but it's not a usual in france (and almost are esthetical transformations).
Bonne route

Re: Sv 650 turbo
Merci Merci!
I'm an engineer and higher efficiencies are my goals with many different projects. I designed the SV to get better mileage as well. I gained consistent 12% now regularly at my regular RPMs that I use. The other bike video I posted is a bike that is also Turbo charged (modified turbo) and gets 68 to 90+ miles to the gallon. It is actually faster than the SV it's only a 550cc. Depending on how heavy your throttle hand is of course. I wonder if France would allow such experimentation. I went through one of the labs here for some of my testing to help quantify data under a grant.
I'll have two videos on the SV, one soon on just comparable runs and the other more about some of the tech on it. I didn't just throw on a turbo, there are many other overall system devices related that are different than most any regular set up. Still the carbs suck and I would only do EFI for much higher efficiencies and performance gains.
